The purpose of this course is to allow you the participant to study environmental health practice as it relates to housing and the special concerns associated with the health care, correctional, and educational institutions. A variety of methods will be used in this course but your active participation is required for success Ð Attendance of classes and field trips is necessary.
- Shelter Ð a basic life support need
Health basis for housing codes and inspection. Legal concerns in housing enforcement. Housing inspection. Special housing concerns and limitations. Rodent/pest control and neighborhood sanitation. - Institutional Environments
Similarities and differences Ð Environmental Health Concerns Ð survey and program procedures- Health Care Ð hospitals, nursing homes, and mental health
- Corrections Ð prisons and jails
- Educational/Research Ð schools, colleges and universities, day care, special educational activities (science fairs)
- Biological Safety Ð primarily for health care and educational research institutions
