The anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of those environmental factors, arising in or from the workplace, which can cause sickness, impaired health and well being, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers or among citizens in the community.

A Lab Fee Card is required and must be purchased ($25 plus tax) at the University Bookstore before the first lab.

Basic Course Policies:
- The instructor expects regular attendance of all students at all classroom sessions.
- Lab attendance is mandatory. If absent (without prior approval), a deduction of 10 points to student's final lab average will be made for each absence.
- Class discussion is not only desired, but is considered an important and integral component of the classroom sessions and therefore is encouraged.
- The instructor expects the students to read all assigned material in the text, as well as journal articles and lab exercises assigned during the term.
- Handout materials may be given out in class to supplement your class notes. These handouts become part of the lecture notes and should be studied for exams.
- Four examinations and a final examination will be given. You will be permitted to drop one of the four exams. The final examination will be comprehensive.
- Seven (7) laboratory reports will be required of each student during the quarter. Each laboratory report will be due at the beginning of the next lab.
Grading will be based on the following:
Exams (three) 45%
Final Exam (Comprehensive) 25%
Lab Reports 15%
Lab Final 10%
Take Home Problem Sets 5%
